What is this website about?

This website is for the creative project "schlo", which is a variety of different forms of media made by me, "krt_org". As of Spring 2023, schlo consists of a novel, an artbook, a short film, six downloadable visual novels, 2 web-based games and whatever you would call schlo checkers. Refer to the Projects page to learn about specific schlo projects or visit my itch.io page.

What is a schlo?

A schlo is a human that was genetically engineered to be "perfect". As for what "perfect" means, that is not totally clear at this time and may never be. It is a state of mind, mass hysteria...All schlos belong to the "Organization", along with some humans. There is an unclear set of rules for schlos to abide by, which they get to pick and choose whatever fits their actions at any given time. There is not much explicit, straightforward rules and characteristics of schlo culture that can be easily defined on this page. Please explore the Projects and Figures pages to learn more.

How should I start learning about schlos?

All schlo projects are meant to be standalone projects, in the sense that it should be relatively easy to just start looking one and get a sense of what's going on. If you want to learn about schlos and the Organization, though, you should check out Schlo: Final Stand, which is more specifically about Schlo culture than other projects that have been released at this time.

What do you use to make schlo?

I don't always use the same applications to make schlo projects, which evident by the variety of types of projects I've made. Some software I frequently use to work on creative projects are listed below.

  • Krita: This is the only art application I ever use. It does exactly what I need and it works!
  • FL studio: I use FL studio to make my awesome songs. I am a total amateur!
  • Audacity: I use this to make the songs all about the same volume. I don't think I used it that way for some of my earliest projects.
  • Google Drive!: Google drive is a big deal for game development! You can backup your files (which I don't do enough) and write quick little development notes, even script entire games and then painstakingly copy and paste and format them later!
  • Atom (RIP): I have always used Atom for scripting projects. All of my renpy games and schlo checkers were made with it. I just started using Visual Studio Code, while making this website. It's fine!
  • Ren'Py: I've made a number of visual novels using Ren'Py. I like it because it's easy and "customizable". I've had ideas that I couldn't get to work on it, though, because I'm not that good at coding. I also don't love how you can normally tell right away when a game is a Ren'Py game, so that's why I don't always use it. But it's easy!
  • Macromedia (I don't remember the number): I used this to make Clerence. It's a cute program! I remember it being super glitchy and it might be even harder to use now, but I'd recommend it if you're patient and smart.
  • Adobe Animate: I used it to make schlo 1°. There's not a ton of resources for making visual novel sorts of games for it, so I don't really recommend it, especially because it's Adobe.
  • Procreate: I used Procreate on the iPad to make schlo complications. Still getting used to this program, I didn't like coloring with it. So I did the line art and basic coloring with Procreate and then switched over to Krita. I'll try to keep using it in the future, because it's easier to draw on the iPad than with a bulky tablet.
  • TuesdayJS: I used TuesdayJS to make schlo complications. I'm pleased with the results, as it was the easiest coding experience I've had and it was fun to build a project this way.
I've tried many different programs that I never ended up finishing anything in. This isn't a surprising list, but here you go!

What is schlo inspired by?
It's hard to say exactly what schlo has been inspired by, as probably every aspect of my living experience has influenced it. There are some things I can specifically state as artistic influences, however. I'm inspired by anime, Touhou and Japanese idol culture. I grew up playing a lot of flash games and computer games. Currently, I enjoy playing GBA games. Out of the things listed, I feel the most inspired by Touhou.
Where is the rest of the information that should be on this page!?

I never really get asked any questions about schlo. If I was asked questions, I guess I would put the answers to them here! I think the other pages on this website will sufficiently describe the information I would like to convey about schlo!
